Northern California churches cooperateLeaders in Northern California have invested and prayed for a church multiplying effort, waiting on the Spirit for direction. With plans to launch a new work on Easter Sunday 2008, God’s provision has already begun.
The leaders are considering seven candidates as church planters and have contacted two church multiplication networks. The C.W. Perry Golf Tournament is designating matching funds toward the effort. Approximately 44% of the $80,000 needed is complete. Their goal is to start core team development by September.
Miracle of Adoption ministryYorba Linda Friends Church (YLFC) hosted a “Spirit of Adoption” seminar. Pat and Kacie Van Winkle, YLFC members, founded Miracle of Adoption Ministry with the goal of becoming advocates for orphans by placing them in loving Christian homes. They hope to raise the awareness of the great need, to share the biblical mandate to care for orphans (Jas 1:27), and to provide practical tools to help others adopt.
At the event, Emily, daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman, shared the story of her family’s adoption of three girls from China. Though her parents were initially reluctant, Emily persisted with her desire to adopt a sister. Later, the Chapmans founded Shaohannah’s Hope, a ministry providing guidance and grants to adoptive families.
