Friends hold “Serve Day” in
Placentia
On Saturday, January 27, 2007, members of EFCSW gathered at Oberle Gymnasium to serve the
Placentia
community. Volunteers worked on projects including painting the interior of the gym and 900 feet of wrought iron fence at a local park, repairing and upgrading a foot bridge, and more.
The day included a neighborhood barbecue and community carnival. A representative from the city of
Placentia
was amazed at the work that the volunteers accomplished and impressed by their loving and joyful attitudes.
Similar Serve Days were held in both Northern California and
Arizona
in February. Each day included work projects, community carnivals, and barbecues.
EFCSW makes changes in annual sessionsEFCSW radically changed their annual meetings for business and fellowship in order to facilitate more involvement in Yearly Meeting events. Due to EFCSW branching out beyond the already established
Southern California
area, three regional annual conferences were needed to accommodate all of the churches in the region.
A
Southern California
conference was held in January. Sessions, with representatives from the entire Yearly Meeting, were held on Friday afternoon to attend to business needs. That evening, an Equipping Community banquet was held. The following Saturday, members of EFCSW gathered in
Placentia
for a Serve Day. Although the business for EFCSW was completed at that conference, Equipping Community banquets and Serve Days were also held in February at Northern California and
Arizona
conferences.
